Lorenzo Snow |
The 5th Prophet in the
history of Mormonism was Lorenzo Snow. Lorenzo Snow was born April 3rd 1814. He was born in Mantua, Ohio and his parents were Oliver and Rosetta Leonora Pettibone Snow. Wilford Woodruff was baptized on June 19th, 1836 at age 22. Later on February 12, 1849 he became an apostle causing him to be 34. Once Wilford Woodruff died Lorenzo Snow died Lorenzo Snow received the privilege to guide the church. He was officially ordained Prophet on September 13, 1898 at the age of 84. Lorenzo Snow may have not had the privilege of dedicating anything, but he did get to meet up with and give a copy of the Book of Mormon to Queen Victoria while on one of his missions which was in New England. Another Great mission he got to go on was Hawaii. While Prophet he brought to attention the importance of paying
tithing. He did later die in Salt Lake City on October 10, 1901 being 87 years old. At this Joseph F. Smith become the next Prophet in the history of Mormonism.
A quote from him is: "As a servant of God, I bear witness to the revelations of His will in the nineteenth century" That's one of the purposes of being a Prophet. to guide us with one of those ways being revelations.
A Testimony of his is: "A word or two about Joseph Smith. Perhaps there are very few men now living who were so well acquainted with Joseph Smith the Prophet as I was. I was with him often times. I visited him in his family, sat at his table, associated with him under various circumstances, and had private interviews with him for counsel. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God; I know that he was an honorable man, a moral man, and that he had the respect of those who were acquainted with him. The Lord has shown me most clearly and completely that he was a prophet of God, and that he held the Holy Priesthood."
