Wilford Woodruff was the fourth President in the history of Mormonism. He President Woodruff was born in Aron Connecticut on the 1st of March in 1807. His Parents were Aphek Woodruff and Beulah Thompson. He Joined Mormonism in 1833 and served a few missions his first being in the southern end of the US. Wilford Woodruff got ordained and apostle at the young age of 32 on April 26, 1839. Once Wilford Woodruff became Prophet on April 26, 1889 he changed the day in which those of Mormonism fast from the 1st Thursday of each month to the 1st Sunday. He was able to dedicate two temples while President of the church. He got to dedicate the Manti Temple in Utah on May 7, 1888 and the privilege of dedicating the most known Salt Lake Temple on April 6,1893. He died in San Francisco, California at the age of 91. This date was 9/2/1898.
A quote from him is, "We are willing to stand by the revelation of God."
Then a testimony of his is, "I am thankful before the Lord for the blessings that I have enjoyed in this conference and for the testimonies I have heard from these Apostles. They speak as men having authority inspired by the spirit of God, and they speak the truth. Many of our friends that have labored with us have passed away. We ourselves shall pas away in our time. I may say that if it had bot been for the prayers of these thousands of Latter-Day-Saints, I today should have been mingling with my brethren in the Spirit World. I know that I have been preserved by the prayers of my brethren and sisters, and I am still with you. I feel very weak, and hardly qualified to magnify my calling as an apostle, as the leader of the people of Israel, in fact, no man is, only as moved upon by the power of God. what little time I may stay here I hope my heart will not be set on the riches of this world, but on doing the will of God and uniting with my brethren in bearing of the great work and responsibility resting upon us. If we will do this, all will be right."

John Taylor in the History of Mormonism

In the history of Mormonism there was a man by the name of President John Taylor. He was the 3rd president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He was born November 1, 1808 to James Taylor and Agnes Taylor. They resided in Milnthorpe, England at this moment. He was married to Leonora Cannon and this marriage happened January 28,1833 in Toronto Canada actually. He was serving a mission for Methodists at the time. He went through a few religions really. He started with the church of England and then went to Methodist around 16 years old. John Taylor participated in the marriage of Leonora while on a mission for them and then later on May 9, 1836 got baptized to start his history in Mormonism. two and a half years later on December 19, 1838 he got put into one of the Twelve Apostles. Then he served another mission, but this time for Mormonism. He went to Great Britain. Later in 1844 John Taylor got injured during the episode at Carthage Jail. John Taylor was able to follow Brigham Young in becoming Prophet and President of the Church in 1880. Then got to guide the Church for 7 years before his death on July 25, 1887. While President of the Church he got to dedicate the Logan Utah Temple.
A really great quote from him is, " I would rather trust in the living God than in any other power on Earth"
A testimony as well that was recorded with being one of his last was, "I know that God rules and reigns in this nation and among the nations of the earth, and that He will direct all things, according to the counsels of His will. I know that the work that God has commenced in these last days will continue to go forth despite the powers of darkness and all the fiends of hell."

Brigham Young's role in the History of Mormonism

The 2nd Prophet in the history of Mormonism was Brigham Young. Brigham Young was born on June 1st of 1801. Brigham's dad was John Young and his mom was Abigail Howe. He was Born in Whitingham Vermont. Brigham Young was poor enough to have his mother die when he was only 14 years old. So then He started to become a carpenter. Eventually in the year 1832, causing him to be 30 years old, Brigham Young got baptized. A few years later on the 14th of February, 1835 he was called to be an Apostle in the History of Mormonism. While an Apostle he got to go to Great Britain to serve a mission for two years. More years later the event of Joseph and Hyrum Smith's Martyrs caused Brigham Young to take charge of the church. He resided at the Nauvoo, Illinois temple dedication in 1846. Later after trekking for a while in Kanesville, Iowa Brigham Young was ordained Prophet. This resided in the year of 1847. The trek continued to Salt Lake Utah where there he confirmed "this is the place". Once the initial Pioneers got here he formed the Perpetual Emigration Fund which assisted others to get to Utah. This Funding was formed in October of the year 1849. There's a program around that he formed. this is young men's and young women's. They vary for each ward. It can happen Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. It changes each year around some specific time. Young men's is scouts and I don't know what young women's has. It's put for 12 years old through high school. The young women's was made first in 1869 and then young men's in 1876. Brigham Young was able to dedicate the St. George Temple in Utah in 1877. I mean the year since he dedicated it on April 6 and he died August 29, 1877. 

He had a great quote that I have to totally agree with it is, " 'Mormonism' has made me all I am; and the grace, the power, and the wisdom of God will make me all that I ever will be, either in time or in eternity.

In the history of Mormonism Joseph Smith Jr. was the very first prophet of the latter days. Joseph Smith was born on December 23,1805 in Sharon, Vermont to Joseph and Lucy Smith. Joseph Smith Jr. was a little farm boy and started to look for a correct gospel. He ran across James 1:5 and took it into effect to have the first vision happen. This happened in 1820 when he was 14 years old. He was told that all were incomplete. 3 years later in 1823 Moroni came to him in the middle of the night and told Joseph about some golden plates that were buried. Later in 1827 Joseph got married. On Jan 18, 1827 he got married to Emma Hale. They were unfortunate to have a majority of their children die though. Out of 9, sadly to say only 4 lived past the age of 2. Joseph finally completed the restoration of the church in the history of Mormonism in the year of 1830. On February 27, 1833 (yes I know, I'm putting a lot of dates) Joseph Smith provided the Word of Wisdom. Later Joseph Smith was martyred in 1844 in Cartage Jail that resides in Illinois. This 27th of February was a sad day in the history of Mormonism. He shared an excellent testimony.
" I had now got my mind satisfied so far as the sectarian world was concerned-that it was not my duty to join with any of them, but to continue as I was until further directed. I had found the testimony of James to be true-that a man who lacked wisdom might ask of God, and obtain, and not be upbraided."

The Prophets in the History of Mormonism

There has been 16 different prophets in the history of Mormonism. This will have a list of them with what years they were leading the church and what I feel the greatest contribution they made was. I will put them in order. From first to last and then also name the years each one lead in the history of Mormonism and What I feel their greatest contribution was while they were President of Mormonism. We start off with Joseph Smith Jr. He went from 1830-1844 and organized the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Next was Brigham Young. He went from 1847 to 1877 and led the Pioneers to Utah so that they would stop getting attacked. 3rd was John Taylor. He make Zion's Central Board of Trade during the years of 1880-1887. Wilford Woodruff went from 1887 to 1898 and Organized the idea of the daily school additions of seminary and Institute for teens and young adults. Lorenzo Snow lead Mormonism 1898-1901. He created the law of tithing. Next was Joseph F. Smith,1901-1918. He did a major event in the history of Mormonism which was to promote scouting so it's basically known as an LDS thing, but still technically a National item. when I was an 11 year old scout we had someone from another religion with us. We're up to the 7th President with being Heber J. Grant. He went from 1918-1945. He created the church welfare program. George Albert Smith did 1945-1951 and had the privilege of having the first televised general conference. This happened on KSL. David O. McKay went from 1951 to 1970 and spread Mormonism across the world. Joseph Fielding Smith went 1970-1972 and created the Mormon magazines: Ensign, New Era, and the Friend. Harold B. Lee is 11th going 1972-1973 and started international missions. Spencer W. Kimball did another marvelous work in the history of Mormonism and let all worthy males have the authority of the Priesthood. He went 1973-1985. Ezra Taft Benson did 1985-1994 and promoted the Book of Mormon like crazy. Howard W. Hunter was in for only 1 year as well running him from 1994-1995 and got the 2000th stake created for Mormonism. Gordon B. Hinckley is 15th in line and went from 1995-2008. He is tied among the Perpetual Education Fund and dedicating more than half the LDS Temples that are currently in use. The 16th and current Prophet is Thomas S. Monson. He started in 2008 and is still going now, of course. He announced a couple monthes ago that men may serve a mission at 18 now and women at 19.

The Willie and Martin Handcart Companies in the History of Mormonism

There is an event in the History of Mormonism that people have heard about called the handcart companies. These Hand cart companies used handcarts due to a lack of money for wagons. There were 10, but I'm going to speak about the 4th and 5th companies. These are the Willie and Martin Handcart Companies. These Two companies both left in 1856 and suffered major trials. Greater than those of other companies. Each Company left at different times and arrives at different times. The Martin Handcart Company was named after Edward Martin. They arrive into Salt Lake on the 9th of November. They had a total of about 220 deaths in both companies. The Willie Handcart Company was named after James G. Willie. They had a harder time. They arrived on the 30th still of November, but they had over 125 deaths to their company. These Two companies had to fight terrible snowstorms that arrived early in the year and due to all the terrible environments events in this moment in the history of Mormonism they had who knows how many amputations of fingers, legs, arms, and whatever else. Just imagine how terrible it would have been like to live in this moment in time with them. They re-enact the handcart companies as a general in an event that happens every four years that teens ages 14-18 can go on with parents approval. It's a ton shorter of course, but they do have two companies that go a further distance to display this. They do this stuff in the summer instead. They just display the Willie and Martin by having them go an extra distance.

The 116 Lost Pages in the History of Mormonism

It was a sad day in the history of Mormonism with the event of having some of the transcript stolen. Back in July of 1828 Martin Harris, one of the participants in translating the Book of Mormon asked if he could bring the translated parts to show his wife. He wanted to do this because his wife was threatening to kick Martin out of the house due to finding disbelief that Martin was actually doing what he was claiming. Joseph was told by Jesus to not allow him. Martin tried a second time and again, got refused. On a third and final time Jesus finally let Martin bring the transcripts back to show select people. Martin sadly did not adhere to these conditions. As result the workings had gotten stolen. Another result of this is that Martin Harris lost the privilege to assist in translating the Book of Mormon and Joseph had the power revoked for a temporary amount of time. Once Joseph Smith had repented he received the Golden Plates, Urim and Thumum, and power to translate again. This time he had a man by the name of Oliver Cowdery to help him in the translating of the plates. There were 116 pages translated at this time which composed the Book of Lehi. Later after Joseph started translating the Plates again he was informed that he should proceed instead of start over due to the man that had stolen them had changed them and would proclaim that the ones the man was holding were the original and that Joseph had changed what was originally on there.
